The Petroleum Training and Education Fund (PETROFUND) has announced its official endorsement of the second edition of the Youth in Oil and Gas Summit scheduled to take place from 24-25 July 2025 in Walvis Bay, Erongo region under the theme: “Drilling into the Future: Empowering Youth in Namibia’s Oil and Gas Revolution.”
The summit provides a valuable platform to provide Namibians, particularly the youth with the necessary information to actively participate in and shape the future of the country’s fast transforming petroleum sector. As Namibia gears up to become an oil and gas-producing nation, our National Upstream Local Content Policies places strategic emphasis on maximum retention of oil and gas wealth in the country. Assimilating the local workforce into the oil and gas sector ensures direct economic benefits to Namibian youth as well as retention of economic value to Namibia’s macro-economic system. It is thus imperative that the youth are equipped with relevant skills to facilitate their participation in the industry as opportunities become available.
In alignment with PETROFUND’s broader mandate to disseminate key information and promote career opportunities within the upstream petroleum sector, the Trust recognised the second Youth in Oil and Gas Summit 2025 as a strategic platform to engage with young people and raise awareness about its oil and gas academic scholarship programme, as well as on-the-job training opportunities facilitated in collaboration with strategic partners.
Moreover, PETROFUND’s endorsement and participation in the summit underscore commitment to empowering Namibian youth to actively engage in the oil and gas industry.
To this end, PETROFUND thus encourages young people from all backgrounds to attend the summit so that they can gain expert insights into the oil and gas industry, network with key players and explore career opportunities. During the summit, PETROFUND is expected to launch its 2026 scholarship programme.
