Sinomine Tsumeb Smelter has announced the new structure of its Executive Committee (ExCo) team. This comes as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence, sustainable growth and commitment to diversity and inclusion. The executive team of Sinomine Tsumeb Smelter comprises of 6 Namibians and 3 foreigners.
CEO Logan Lou reiterated Sinomine’s committed to adhering to all conditions set by the Namibian Competition Commission, including compliance with employment regulations. He highlighted that of the 600 employees at the smelter, approximately 98% are Namibians with about 2% being foreign employees. Recently, the company issued an internal memo that introduced and welcomed new team members seconded from the Group’s Corporate Head Office to the smelter.
“The team members are seconded to support our existing workforce, and we thank everyone for their continued support in welcoming them as we expand our capacity and capabilities as a business to meet evolving needs of the industry, “said Brumilda Britz, Director Human Resources in an internal memo addressed to employees.
Lou gave assurance, that only three of the nominated team seconded from the Group’s Corporate Head office forms part of the executive management team. The other colleagues will serve as an additional resource on a secondment basis.
“We are committed to enhancing our copper business and introducing new project initiatives namely the cesium and germanium projects. These efforts are anticipated to create further employment opportunities for Namibians, contributing positively to the local economy,” said Lou.
He further expressed his enthusiasm in driving the next phase of the company’s growth with the support of stakeholders including employees at the smelter.
