Youth Opportunity to host Financial Literacy Workshop in the Hardap Region

The One Economy Foundation’s Youth Opportunity Pillar will host our first Financial Literacy Workshop this year for youth micro-entrepreneurs aged 18-35 in Mariental on 29-30 May 2024. This is the first of a four-part series of Financial Literacy Training sessions that YO! will be hosting across various regions. This workshop is made possible through the support of Visa and in partnership with Bank Windhoek, Nedbank, and the First National Bank. The workshop will equip young micro-entrepreneurs with the financial knowledge and tools to manage their finances effectively, explore investment opportunities, and attain long-term financial stability.

The workshop will delve into key financial concepts such as budgeting, cash flow management, and financial statements as well as Fintech products, while creating a platform for financial planning and sustainable growth. Furthermore, the workshop will educate entrepreneurs on available financing options and the requirements for accessing them, along with fostering connections with relevant service providers. Finally, the workshop strives to develop a database of youth micro-entrepreneurs within the Hardap Region, fostering a sense of community and facilitating future support initiatives.

It will conclude with a prize handover to 6 participants who showcase exceptional business ideas and consistently show progress and competence during the training. The first prize winner will be awarded N$10,000.00; the second prize winner will receive N$8,500.00; the third runner-up will receive N$6,300.00 and two (2) will receive business registration and one (1) will receive stock to the value of N$2,000.00.
