Monica Geingos, First Lady of the Republic of Namibia has recognised the critical role that institutions like Namib Desert Diamonds (Pty) Ltd (NAMDIA) play in bridging societal divides within Namibia’s economy emphasising the importance of not solely focusing on capital returns but also placing a significant emphasis on social returns.
In an address to NAMDIA during her visit to the agency last week, Geingos effectively underscored the indispensable role of NAMDIA in promoting socioeconomic progress, inspiring the organization to further amplify its commitment to creating positive change and fostering inclusive growth within Namibia.
“By ensuring an efficient price discovery process, NAMDIA would be better equipped to expand its efforts in the realm of social returns beyond capital returns, thereby facilitating increased investment in the advancement of human capital,” Geingos said.
During the visit, Geingos was presented with the opportunity to immerse herself in an enlightening encounter with the world of diamonds.

The interactive session enabled Geingos who is a product of a mining town to personally experience the allure of diamonds, gaining firsthand insights into the remarkable journey of rough diamonds.

NAMDIA donated a 65-inch smart TV and desktop computer worth collectively N$ 60 000.00 to the One Economy Foundation for the #Befree Youth Campus that is currently under construction in Katutura and is expected to be officially launched in September 2023.
