In a handover ceremony that took place in Havana, Windhoek, FNB Namibia through its corporate social responsibility arm, the FirstRand Namibia Foundation donated 40 Oximeters to the Omnicare Trust in support of its mission to deliver quality healthcare to Namibia’s remote communities.

Valued at N$58,000, the donation highlights FNB Namibia’s ongoing commitment to community and health development. This year marks the 4th consecutive year of partnership between FNB Namibia and the Omnicare Trust, a collaboration aimed at improving access to primary healthcare services in underserved areas across the country. Steadfast in its vision to empower and uplift underserved and remote communities in Namibia, the Trust offers local communities free and vital healthcare through its mobile healthcare clinics and primary healthcare services.

FNB Namibia has a deep-seated responsibility to uplifting Namibian communities. Through the FirstRand Namibia Foundation, the bank is committed to partnering with organisations whose values mirror its key focus areas, one of which is community and health development.

The donation will go towards procuring oximeters, medical devices which help determine and monitor to monitor how much oxygen is being carried in a person’s blood. This information is crucial for assessing respiratory health and identifying potential issues, such as those with lung or heart conditions.

Speaking at the handover, Anndine Buckley, FNB Namibia Head of Platinum said, “This moment signifies our unwavering commitment to supporting the tireless efforts of our healthcare heroes who stand at the forefront of our community’s health and well-being. Your relentless dedication, compassion, and expertise have been the cornerstone of our fight against health challenges.”

FNB Namibia’s partnership with the Omnicare Trust dates back to 2022 and includes ongoing financial support for its Mobile clinic operations. In addition, the FirstRand Namibia Foundation has also contributed N$1,6 million in sponsorship, funding one mobile clinic.

“Let us continue to work hand in hand, united by our shared goal of improving health outcomes and ensuring that every patient receives the best possible care,” Buckley concluded.
