Agribank puts Witvlei abattoir on the market for N$52 million

Agribank has officially invited offers for the purchase of the Witvlei Abattoir and its related properties, setting a minimum reserve price of N$51,771,115.50. The sale presents a significant opportunity for interested parties to acquire a established meat processing facility, albeit under a strict set of non-negotiable conditions.

According to the invitation, the bank will only accept a single, full payment for the asset bundle and will not consider any offers based on instalment plans. Furthermore, the abattoir and all its associated properties must be purchased together as one lot and cannot be subdivided or sold individually.

To participate, potential buyers must provide a verifiable bank guarantee from a Namibian financial institution. The bank has also stipulated a hefty N$1 million penalty for the withdrawal of a bank guarantee once submitted. All submissions are to be hand-delivered in a sealed envelope to the bid box located on the Ground Floor of the Agribank Head Office in Post Street Mall. Each applicant is required to sign a submission register with the receptionist.

Prospective bidders are encouraged to attend a mandatory site visit scheduled for 10h00 on Monday, 25 August 2025, to inspect the facilities. Valuation reports for the properties are also available upon request.

The sale comes with several significant caveats for the purchaser. All assets are being sold on a “voetstoots” basis, meaning they are purchased in their current condition with no warranties or guarantees. Furthermore, the buyer will be solely responsible for all costs associated with the transfer of the assets and for obtaining any necessary compliance permits and licenses required for operation. The full purchase amount is not deductible for any costs.
