August 26 Logistics, recently kicked off its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, called “Chains of Kindness.” The first four projects launched during winter benefited several communities and hundreds of children. This exciting initiative is building a positive social impact by partnering with different stakeholders and suppliers to provide welfare services and goods to vulnerable communities across Namibia.
The Chains of Kindness program was established with the primary purpose of supporting those in need across our country. The name embodies the company’s mission to build a network of goodwill by collaborating closely with our suppliers. It also reflects August 26 Logistics’ deep commitment to social responsibility and charitable giving.
“We are immensely proud of our Chains of Kindness initiative,” said Alpha Nekomba, Acting Managing Director of August 26 Logistics (Pty) Ltd. “We believe that through our collective efforts, we have fostered meaningful positive change in these regions, alongside our valued suppliers.”
As part of the Chains of Kindness program, August 26 Logistics, together with eighteen (18) of its suppliers, contributed towards a series of donations that helped communities endure the harsh winter season. These gifts included food, toiletries, cleaning products, and 600 blankets, all distributed across four different projects:
- Havanna Charity Work Foundation in Havanna Windhoek Khomas Region, under the care of Ms. Natasha Nekweya, feeds 400 children every week. August 26 Logistics, through Chains of Kindness, provided food, toiletries, cleaning products, and blankets, bringing much-needed relief and smiles to the beautiful faces of children.
- The Omiti Planting CC is a non-profit organization, and the Ovinjange Community Project is one of the projects that was established to tackle water scarcity and food insecurity, which have been long-standing challenges in the Ovinjange village, approximately 11 km from Opuwo. August 26 Logistics contributed N$88,713 to the drilling of a borehole and between 700 to 800 people will benefit from this project.
- Rise and Shine Soup Kitchen in Epako Gobabis, Omaheke region is managed by Mrs. Johanna Tjirongo-Nakale. This soup kitchen provides daily meals to 121 children from the San community and provides permanent accommodation for 23 children. August 26 Logistics donated food, toiletries, cleaning materials, and blankets, ensuring these children were warm this winter.
- Otjikoyo (Ovatue, Ovatjimba) Community located about 60km northwest of Okanguati in the Kunene region. This community of 150 households were gifted food and supplies that helped them through the challenging winter months. The donation from Chains of Kindness included food, toiletries, cleaning materials, and blankets.
“August 26 Logistics through our newly established CSR initiative would like to thank all the stakeholders for making this project a real success. Your support allowed us to extend our reach and provide even more to those in need,” added Alpha Nekomba.
