Two Namibian projects have been nominated for the Corps-Touristique Award 2023.
The first nominee is Ongula Village Homestead in the far north of Namibia which has a perfect blend of great travel experience paired with cultural experiences, local job training as well as community work for the youth. The founder, Hilya Nghiwete sets a remarkable sign of intercultural understanding and cooperation in tourism.
The second nominee is the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) and Land Rover Experience Germany. During the Covid-19 wave in July 2021 both brands initiated a project that saved lives. By using the strong tourism-network and the international contacts both corporates had, vaccines, oxygen, masks as well as healthcare workers could be transported on Land Rover vehicles to remote regions of the country. By this initiative LRE and NTB showed that the Namibian tourism sector is strong in building cooperation, making a difference beyond tourism and supplying needed aid to the people of Namibia.
The Corps Touristique Award 2023 was founded in cooperation with fvw | TravelTalk and the Travel Show CMT Stuttgart to celebrate tourism-projects that contribute to intercultural understanding and that have a positive impact on the local communities.
The award will be handed over on 18 January 2023 during CMT show in Stuttgart.
