…as K2G NextGen Entrepreneurs Showcase lights up Tsumeb
Governor of the Oshikoto region, Penda ya Ndakolo has said that MSMEs’ contribute approximately 12 percent of Namibia’s GDP adding that the sector has approximately 33,700 MSMEs of which around 15,000 are formally registered.
Ya Ndakolo was speaking today at the inauguration of the Know2grow (K2G) Nextgen Entrepreneurs Showcase at Tsumeb where more than 120 MSMEs from various industries such as food processing, cosmetics and manufacturing, amongst others are expected to showcase their innovative products and services during the three-day event.
This platform, which is more commonly referred to as a trade fair, will connect MSMEs with each other as well as with business support organizations and their current and potential clients. In addition, the MSMEs will showcase their products and services, and attend various seminars aimed at sharing information about managing their businesses, as well as Business to Business retail engagements, specifically focused on enabling business owners to get their products on retail shelves as well as export ready.
“Namibia is considered a young nation. It is imperative that we pave the way for youth-led initiatives and support the acceleration of their business ventures. Young people should have an environment in which their brilliant and innovative business models are recognized and encouraged in order to sustain the next generation. I am very impressed to see the private sector’s involvement in this great Showcase. Thank you for blazing the trail.
“It is against this background that I would like to commend and extend gratitude towards the NIPDB for the impactful work that they are doing to ensure that Namibian MSMEs are provided with opportunities that enable them to scale their businesses to be able to create employment and to grow the economy,” further said ya Ndakolo.
