NHE deal will see Miss Namibia 2025 winner walk away with a house

In a trailblazing announcement aimed at extending the social and economic empowerment of the Miss Namibia Beauty Pageant winner, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), Miss Namibia Organization (MNO), and the National Housing Enterprise (NHE) announced that the 2025 Miss Namibia winner will walk away with a fully furnished house as part of her prizes.

The announcement was met with astonishing pride and glee from both the media and all those in attendance towards the gesture that sets the stage in promoting housing accessibility to the masses, empowering the youth in general, and endowing the young women in particular. The three-year agreement, effective from 01 June 2025 to 01 June 2028, brings together the prestige of the Miss Namibia Pageant, the reach of NBC’s broadcast platforms, and NHE’s mandate to provide affordable housing for Namibians.

Under the terms of the partnership, NHE will sponsor two fully completed housing units annually, one awarded to the reigning Miss Namibia (valued at N$750,000) and another as the grand prize for the NBC-produced “Win a House” game show (valued at N$900,000). In turn, NBC will provide annual airtime across its multimedia platforms, in addition to professional production services including infomercials, TV and radio ads, and live broadcasts. “This partnership is more than just a mere media campaign,” said NBC Director General, Stanley Benjamin Similo, “It is a national initiative to celebrate the excellence of Namibian women, raise awareness about affordable housing, and create meaningful rewards for the public.” Miss Namibia Organization CEO, Umbi Karuaihe-Upi concurred with the Director General and emphasized the role of the pageant in inspiring young Namibian women: “For the first time, our Miss Namibia titleholders will receive homes, a powerful symbol of stability and recognition of their national role.”

On his part, NHE CEO, Gisbertus Mukulu, affirmed the Enterprise’s commitment to empower Namibians economically through the provision of affordable housing. “By supporting both the pageant and the Win a House initiative, we are demonstrating that housing can be aspirational and inclusive for all. This initiative allows ordinary Namibians to dream big and win big since housing is an economic enabler.” Also in attendance was NBC Board Chairman, Lazarus Jacobs who highlighted the importance of the agreement and praised the forward-thinking nature of the partnership: “This agreement represents a shift in how public institutions can collaborate to drive national development. By integrating broadcasting, youth empowerment, and housing, we are setting a new standard for smart partnerships in Namibia. NBC is proud to lead in this innovation.” The initiative will officially launch in June 2025, with regular content and programming leading up to the grand finale events in 2026, 2027, and 2028.
