The Old Mutual Foundation has announced the second edition of its flagship Youth Indaba (2.0), scheduled for 21 February 2025. Building on the success of the inaugural event, this year’s Indaba will feature a dynamic programme centered on the theme: “Closing the Gap Between Education and Skills Development.”

As a key initiative empowering Namibia’s youth, the Indaba tackles critical challenges in skills development and career readiness. Attendees can expect practical insights, hands-on training, and valuable networking opportunities.

“The 2025 Youth Indaba symbolises our resolute dedication to Namibia’s youth. By mending this particular seam between education and skills, we are engineering tangible solutions and opportunities to ignite the spirit of leadership for the coming generations,” shared Mignon du Preez, Old Mutual Namibia Group Marketing, Public Affairs and Sustainability Executive.

The event will comprise of panel discussions with leading industry professionals who will share expertise in areas such as technical skill, emotional intelligence, and career readiness. Breakaway sessions will take center stage on agricultural careers, strategic thinking, adaptability, mental wellness, soft skills, and financial literacy. The day will be sealed off in style with the Happy Hour Sundowner, a vibrant fusion of live performances, poetry, and comedy to get those networking juices flowing.

In line with Old Mutual’s commitment to youth empowerment and the progress of Namibia, the Indaba seeks to equip young professionals with resilience and soft skills necessary for success at work, career path guidance, and information on available internships and scholarships; highlight entrepreneurial opportunities that exist in fields such as agriculture and green hydrogen; and encourage conversation on how to align education with industry needs.

Entrepreneurs can also showcase their products and services at vendor stalls, gaining exposure to industry professionals, policymakers, and potential customers.

Spaces are limited, and while tickets are free, securing a spot early is essential to avoid missing out. You can get tickets to multiple sessions on Webtickets as from 25 January 2025. Join the Indaba for a day of inspiration, learning, and connection where opportunities meet action to shape the future of Namibia’s youth.
