Saipem has enough vessels in hand to bid for upcoming Namibia jobs, says chief exec

Italian contractor Saipem expects to have sufficient vessels in hand to answer calls from operators for deepwater exploration and development jobs in Namibia, despite seeing all of its offshore engineering and construction fleet fully booked until mid-2026.

Speaking at a conference call on Thursday following the release of the company’s third-quarter results, chief executive Alessandro Puliti said Namibia is a strategic new market for Saipem that is very close to Angola, where the company has previous involvement and experience.

“It is very interesting for us to start work [in Namibia] from the very beginning as we will serve Galp with the Santorini drillship in exploration activity,” Puliti said. Upstream
