Namibia Asset Management appoints Nixon Marcus and Absalom Kapenda as new independent non-executive directors

In a significant boardroom enhancement, Namibia Asset Management Ltd. (NAM) has announced the appointment of two new Independent Non-Executive Directors, effective from August 1, 2024, pending regulatory approval. This strategic move is aimed at strengthening NAM’s governance and expertise amid evolving market dynamics.

According to information available from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), the new appointees, Nixon Marcus and Absalom Kapenda, bring a wealth of experience and specialized knowledge to NAM’s board. Marcus, a distinguished lawyer and the founder of Nixon Marcus Public Law Office, has a robust legal background with a BA (Law) and LLB Degrees from the University of Cape Town. His career highlights include roles as a Deputy Government Attorney and an Acting Judge of the High Court of Namibia, enriching the board with his deep legal acumen.

Additionally, Marcus has contributed to several regulatory and sports bodies, enhancing his profile as a seasoned leader in legal and regulatory matters.

On the other hand, Kapenda, a chartered accountant with extensive experience in the financial sector, has been a pivotal figure in Namibia’s capital markets. His previous role as General Manager: Capital Markets at the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA) and his active participation as a board member on various financial and energy sector organizations underline his expertise in financial management and corporate governance.
