Mines and Energy Minister, Tom Alweendo as well as the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) both won awards at the 28th edition of the Big Five Board Awards 2024 of the Africa Energies Summit.
These are the longest running African-focused energy awards, and this year’s Big Five finalists were peer-nominated prior to the three-day international Summit held in London, with delegates voting for each category’s winner during the event.
NAMCOR won the Rhino: African NOC / Regulator of the Year award while Alweendo scooped that Africa’s Legend.
Other winners were Fatoumata SANOGO, Chief Executive Officer, PETROCI who won the Elephant: Distinguished individual contribution to the African energy industry award; Eni which won that Lion: Distinguished corporate contribution to the African Energy industry; Impact Oil & Gas which won the Leopard: Africa’s independent player of the year and TGS which won the Buffalo: Service & supply company of the year.
Special Government Showcase awards for 2024 were also presented to the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons, Equatorial Guinea & Petroleum Commission, The Gambia.
