Namibia’s construction sector to gathers in Lüderitz for landmark infrastructure forum

The Construction Industries Federation of Namibia (CIF), in partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), the Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company, the Lüderitz Town Council, and FlyNamibia, has announced that registration is now open for the CIF Infrastructure Development Forum 2025. The event will take place from 14–16 October at the historic Old Power Station Conference Centre in Lüderitz, with registration closing on 4 October.

The forum, supported by key sponsors such as First National Bank, Standard Bank, Namibia Welding, Building and Civil Works (NWBC), and Africa Personnel Services (APS), aims to bring together contractors, SMEs, suppliers, and financiers to explore upcoming infrastructure projects in Lüderitz and the wider ||Kharas Region. More than 35 high-profile speakers from government, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector are set to share critical updates on project timelines, procurement processes, and partnership opportunities.

According to Bärbel Kirchner, CEO of CIF, the forum arrives at a pivotal moment for Lüderitz, which is poised for significant construction-led growth. “This first-of-its-kind event brings the industry together to see first-hand what is planned,” she said. “It connects procurement entities with contractors and SMEs while ensuring fair and efficient processes.”

Notably, all speakers are participating free of charge and covering their own expenses—a gesture underscoring their commitment to advancing Namibia’s construction industry.

In addition to project insights, the three-day programme includes structured networking sessions, coffee breaks, and dedicated SME training. Anna Hoffman-Kwanga, Country Director of KAS Namibia and Angola, highlighted the forum’s role in fostering “infrastructure development, fair procurement, and SME participation” as essential drivers of inclusive economic growth.

Sponsors and partners also voiced strong support. Franco Labuschagne of FNB Namibia emphasised the bank’s readiness to help businesses “seize the moment” in a transforming Lüderitz, while Harold Mouton, MD of NWBC, described the event as a “must-attend” for every contractor looking to engage with government and industry leaders.
