MTC has officially announced its sponsorship of the Content Creator Awards, securing the naming rights for the prestigious event. The announcement was made last week in Windhoek by MTC’s Corporate Communication Specialist, Erasmus Nekundi, where the company revealed its intention to commit N$1.5 million on this year’s event, and N$4.5million over the next three-years.
Scheduled to take place on December 6th at the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN), the Content Creator Awards will celebrate and recognize individuals who have made a significant impact on Namibia’s digital landscape. This year’s event will feature 20 award categories and will see an improvement in winners’ prize value.
Beyond the awards, the content creator awards are also sponsoring a comprehensive workshop, open to all aspiring content creators. The workshop will feature industry experts providing valuable insights and strategies to help participants thrive in the ever-evolving digital space.
Speaking on the development, Nekundi said: “As a digital enabler, it is our honour to support those who make social media engaging, ensuring that data is used not only for entertainment but also for educational and impactful purposes. Over the years, MTC has invested in the creative industry, and we continue to intentionally participate because the creative and entertainment industry is crucial and will always have significant socio-economic benefits. This is an industry, if taken seriously in all forms, can aid livelihoods. It is an industry where one can make a decent income and live off it. However, in its current state, there is so much to be yearned for, and it will take a collective effort to build and bring it to a standard where we all want it to be.
“MTC, as a driver for digitalisation, believe in the power of creativity and innovation. And this is what content creators thrive on. They are creatives and innovators. They are storytellers who package narratives and use data to bring cultural tales to us and connect communities in a unique modern way. Our sponsorship for these awards therefore highlights our commitment to bringing digital inclusion, supporting innovation, and empowering local talent. We will forever stand to support new ideas that not only inspire but also siphon the value that lies in digital platforms. Nowadays we see many leveraging platforms such as Tik Tok, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others to showcase talents, and it is encouraging to know that as a country, there’s plans to unlock avenues that permit Namibians to earn online income. The monetization of the digital platforms.” said Nekundi.
Expressing his gratitude, event organizer KP Illest shared his excitement, stating, “What started as just a dream is now becoming a reality. With MTC’s contribution, we can create something bigger and better than we ever imagined.”
The Content Creator Awards aim to highlight and celebrate Namibia’s creative talent while fostering the growth of the digital industry.
MTC continues to play a defining role in Namibia’s creative and cultural landscape, demonstrating how investment in the arts can drive both social impact and economic opportunity. It has been instrumental in elevating Namibia’s creative industry through flagship initiatives like the Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) and the MTC Windhoek Fashion Week. These platforms have showcased local talent, empowered youth, and positioned Namibia on the regional creative map and demonstrate MTC’s support to arts, culture, and economic growth.
