…Telco now boasts of 37 shops countrywide
Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) officially opened its 2nd Katutura mobile home in Samora Machel constituency, Greenwell Matongo settlement. In total, MTC now boosts a total of 37 shops countrywide, marking a major milestone to enhancing local access to MTC’s full suite of ICT services.
Officiating the opening ceremony, Emma Theofelus, Minister of ICT expressed: “This is a proud and crucial moment for digital inclusion in Namibia. MTC’s new facility supports our national objective to democratise access to ICT across all constituencies. ICT services have proven to be a connecter between the informal and formal economy. And as Minister, I celebrate MTC’s leadership in bridging the digital divide and driving inclusive growth. Greenwell Matongo is in Samora Machel constituency, arguably the biggest and densest in Khomas region, hence, I commend this move which will ensure that your services are not delayed or hard to access.”
MTC’s Financial Director, Thinus Smit reaffirmed MTC’s commitment to serving with excellence. “Today we reaffirm MTC’s commitment to bringing world class service directly to underserved communities. The Greenwell Matongo Mobile Home is a permanent installation where people can walk in for contract applications, SIM replacement, account payments and renewal, data and device set-up, contract enquiries, top ups, recharge vouchers, amongst others.”
Smit furthered that “MTC has a big customer base in Katutura, which rendered our Mobile Home at Katutura Black Chain no longer sufficient to meet the growing demand. Given the long queues that form there (at black chain), as a customercentric company, we have taken a decision to open a new and 2nd MTC Mobile home in Katurura, here in Eveline Street – bringing the crucial services nearer and improving the experience of our customers. Katutura is arguably the heartbeat of Windhoek and is home to a dynamic population that contributes significantly to driving the local economy. This shop, therefore, signifies our commitment to community empowerment and economic stimulation through service accessibility and convenience”.
City of Windhoek Mayor, Her Worship Councillor Ndeshihafela Larandja in her remarks commended MTC and urged other companies to emulate. “This is plausible. By opening your doors here, you are not only prioritizing convenience, but also affirming that Katutura, home to most of Windhoek’s residents, deserves equal access to opportunities. Let this be a model for others. Businesses must go where their customers are, whether in Okuryangava, Havana, or Goreangab.” At the event, MTC Chief Commercial Officer, Mr Octavious Kahiya, states: “This Mobile Home is more than a service point – it’s a commitment to delivering reliable and affordable services. It’s a response to the real needs of the people. We’re proud to launch this in Samora Machel constituency and reaffirm our pledge to serve every Namibian.”
