In a landmark engagement that signals a new era for youth inclusion in Namibia’s energy sector, the Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF), under the capable leadership of its Advisory Board and Management Team, held a high-level meeting with the Office of the President at the invitation of Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia.
The meeting, hosted at State House, was held with Cornelia Shilunga, Special Advisor and Head of the Upstream Petroleum Unit in the Presidency, and Carlo Lord Muhamed McLeodas, Special Advisor and Deputy Head of the Unit, and Joseph Amakali, Technical Assistant. Representing NYEF were Miguel Hamutenya (Advisory Board Chairperson), Ms. Gisela Sebastiao (Vice-Chairperson), Olavi Hangula (Advisory Board Member), Andreas Paulus (Managing Director), and Namwenyo Mhata (Project Manager).
This strategic engagement aimed to formally introduce NYEF to the Presidency, advocate for youth-centered energy policies, and explore collaboration in areas such as local content development, policy formulation, and sector transformation. The meeting reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to youth empowerment, inclusivity, and sustainable economic development. “This meeting strengthens our collective voice and capabilities as we continue to champion youth empowerment in shaping Namibia’s energy future,” said Paulus. “It is a powerful signal that the Presidency recognizes the role of youth in driving national progress.”
The engagement comes at a pivotal moment as NYEF prepares to host the Namibia Energy Connect & Energy Trailblazer Awards 2025, a flagship two-day national platform taking place from 4–5 November 2025 at Droombos, Windhoek. This first-of-its-kind event will bring together over 500 local and international delegates, industry leaders, and young innovators to drive dialogue, build partnerships, and recognize excellence across the energy value chain.
