APxHouse and Pieter Mostert Architects exclusive collaboration for Woodlands @ Herboths

APxHouse (Apx) and Pieter Mostert Architects have entered into an exclusive collaboration for Woodlands @ Herboths, the low-density nature estate east of Windhoek. In terms of the development framework, Pieter Mostert Architects has been appointed as the Estate Architects responsible for the architectural design of homes within the estate, and will oversee design approval on behalf of the estate’s Home Owners Association — shaping a cohesive design language across all 31 freehold erven.

The collaboration brings together two ambitions that have always defined Woodlands @ Herboths: a place where people live close to nature without compromising on comfort, and a place where what is built today still holds its value and its character for generations to come. Rather than a catalog of set house types, the estate gives each owner the freedom to design their own home, guided by a shared vision that keeps the whole estate distinctive and unique.

“Woodlands @ Herboths was never meant to be a conventional development. This collaboration gives the estate a single architectural footprint, one that protects the value of every home while leaving owners free to build the home they have always imagined. Space, light and permanence are what people are really buying here, and Pieter and his team at PMA understand that,” says LeHugo van Rooyen, CEO of APxHouse. Homes that belong to the land Each home is designed to operate fully off-grid — with a hybrid solar system included in the property purchase, secured bulk water from NamWater and on-site wastewater treatment — so that every household runs independently, reliably and in an eco-friendly manner.

Woodlands @ Herboths sits within roughly 160 hectares of protected nature estate, with 31 freehold erven ranging from three to eight hectares each. Wildlife roams freely across conservation corridors, and internal roads connect onto the upgraded Dr Hage Geingob Freeway, about twenty minutes from Windhoek and en route to Hosea Kutako International Airport. At Pieter Mostert Architects, we believe every home should emerge naturally from its setting, responding to the unique context of Woodlands @ Herboths. Our architecture embraces honest, durable materials, generous indoor-outdoor living and climate-responsive design, creating homes that are contemporary, enduring and deeply connected to the Namibian landscape.

At Woodlands @ Herboths, the landscape is the starting point for every home. Our role is to help each owner create a home that responds to its site, climate and surroundings through thoughtful planning, natural materials and timeless design. When a home is designed to work with its environment, sustainability becomes a natural outcome rather than an added feature,” says Pieter Mostert, Professional Architect and Founder of Pieter Mostert Architects. Demand for this type of lifestyle has already been demonstrated at the neighbouring Herboths Blick estate, where all erven have been successfully sold.
