‘The start of a new chapter’: C29 expands into Namibian metals

C29 Metals is pushing into Africa with a strategic acquisition that positions the company in one of Namibia’s most prospective copper and gold regions.

The company has struck a binding agreement to secure a majority interest in a portfolio of exploration assets across three project areas, marking a clear shift toward commodities aligned with electrification and sustained bullion strength.

At the centre is the Kopermyn copper project in the Tier 1 Otavi copper belt, where historical drilling has confirmed high-grade mineralisation and outlined strong expansion potential.

“This acquisition is the start of a new chapter for C29 Metals, providing exposure to a highly prospective copper and gold portfolio in Namibia, one of Africa’s premier mining jurisdictions,” C29 Metals managing director Shannon Green said.

“Copper is increasingly recognised as a critical mineral crucial to the energy transition, while gold continues to trade at near-record levels following a strong 2025. In this market environment, C29 is moving into the right commodities at an opportune time.”

Mineralisation at Kopermyn remains open along strike and at depth, presenting scope for growth as C29 applies modern exploration techniques. The project also benefits from its proximity to established infrastructure, enhancing its long-term development prospects.

Green said the project offers a strong base for future work, noting shallow mineralisation supports efficient exploration.

“The earlier stage gold projects in the Damara gold belt add portfolio optionality and a broad exploration platform to progress in parallel with our copper project,” Green said.

To fund the acquisition and accelerate activity, C29 has secured firm commitments for a capital raising, complemented by additional support through a director-backed convertible loan.

With permitting well advanced and drilling expected to begin shortly, the company is preparing to unlock value from its newly acquired Namibian ground.
