Agribank appoints Robert Eiman as CEO

The Agricultural Bank of Namibia (Agribank) has appointed seasoned banker and executive Robert Eiman as its new Chief Executive Officer, with effect from 1 July 2026.

Eiman, who joins the state-owned development finance institution from Nampost Financial Brokers (POSTFIN) where he served as CEO, will take over from Dr Raphael Karuaïhe, who retired on 31 March 2026 after a period of dedicated service. In the interim, Chief Financial Officer Abel Akayombokwa has been serving as Acting CEO and will continue in that role until Eiman officially assumes duty.

The announcement was made by the Agribank Board of Directors, with Board Chairperson Josephat Mwatotele expressing confidence in the new appointee. “The Board welcomes Mr Eiman and looks forward to leveraging his leadership skills, strategic insights, and financial industry knowledge to lead the Bank into its next phase of growth, sustainability, and impact,” Mwatotele said.

Eiman brings extensive experience across microfinance, commercial banking, corporate banking and development finance. His background includes preparing, evaluating and structuring large-scale deals across various industries, as well as strategy development and implementation. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Maastricht University School of Business and Economics in the Netherlands.

Prior to his role at POSTFIN, Eiman held senior positions at the Development Bank of Namibia and First National Bank of Namibia, where he built a reputation in transformational leadership, credit risk management, market analysis, banking operations and client service management.

His appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Agribank, which is undergoing an organisational transformation aimed at addressing complex economic dynamics, climate change, low agricultural productivity and fragmented agricultural value chains. The Board expressed confidence that Eiman would lead the Bank through its transformation phase while balancing its developmental mandate with long-term financial sustainability.

Reacting to his appointment, Eiman said, “I am honoured to serve in this role and look forward to building on the foundation laid by my predecessors, while steering the Bank towards long-term sustainable growth and contributing to the transformation of the agricultural sector.”
