BIPA secures former SME Bank building for N$65 million

The Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA) has acquired its new head office building for N$65 million in a landmark transaction finalized on 11 November 2025. The property, which previously housed the SME Bank located on Erf No. 172–17 Jan Jonker Road, Ausspannplatz, Windhoek now serves as a permanent operational base for the Business Hub.

The contract was formalized at a signing ceremony attended by officials from BIPA, the Central Procurement Board of Namibia (CPBN), and the liquidators for the former owners.

At the signing ceremony, BIPA’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ainna Kaundu, stated: “BIPA has never sought premises for its own benefit, but rather with start-ups, entrepreneurs, investors, and large-scale businesses in mind. The Authority’s enduring objective has been to establish a Business Hub – a space designed to facilitate enterprise development, foster innovation, and enable business growth. This is the place where, together, we imagine the future we own.”

The move is expected to strengthen BIPA’s capacity, provide space for future expansion, and enhance public access to its services. The CPBN noted the transaction highlights its commitment to transparent and efficient procurement processes that contribute to national development.
